The civilian casualties of bombardments in Iraqi Kurdistan report is the culmination of two years worth of data collection work and over a decades worth of relationship building by a handful of people in northern Iraq. The project visited every district and subdistrict in northern Iraq (including Mosul and Sinjar) to document and account for the victims of Turkish and Iranian military actions. Both Iraqi and Kurdish governments had no to limited records of the incidents and survivors and the families of deceased had rarely been compensated (even though legally it was a constitutional right). After the presentation of data and report, the Iraqi federal government, begun to the process to establishing a compensation role out.

CPT-IK was awarded the Human Rights Tulip by the Dutch government recently for this project and an ongoing commitment to reporting on human rights in Iraqi Kurdistan.
